Windows Media Player problem? here's a very good FAQ page

Bleh. I'm trying to watch an all important streaming video of some really important things (no, not that), and windows media player 9 only plays audio and no video. Coolness. Always wanted to know what its like to be blind, but after 5 seconds it gets really old. So now what? Google Google.
While I still have not found the answer I was looking for(maybe you know?), I came across this wonderful media player FAQ page:

OK. I somehow fixed it. The solution was:
- open Tools-Options-Performance-Advanced
- uncheck “use video mixing renderer”
 
That's it. Go figure. It used to work, but now it does not. Never actually “checked” it myself.
Some windows problems are best left unanswered I guess...]
