I see what you did there.

It's like I tell my kids: "Silence is Golden, Duct Tape is Silver". I think they choose the former as well.

Looking forward to the controversial c-word series. Entity Framework apologists and authors take note....

Point taken. But not one moment of your video was spent addressing Joel's real point which is; Far too often developers (especially those on a tight deadline) spend far too much time debating about the newest technology / framework / toolset to use for the project. Duct-tape programmers know what works and they forge ahead and use it ... and they get the job done. Could their work be helped with tests? Undoubtedly.

So, question to you...is there *ANY* short-term project you work on that could move forward without tests? I know a few that I've worked on. Would I have loved to test? Sure. Just couldn't and I had to take the bull by the horns. If I was Kreskin, I'd likely say you have too. Be honest.

John Walker, my question would be: are there *ANY* short-term projects?

@Ionut G. Stan : work with me for only one day and you'll get your answer.

Can we PLEASE move past the duct tape post? Joel even said that many readers misunderstood him. I couldn't agree more with John Walker. So many developers build spaceships to cross the road. Hence Joel's point. Yes, it is best to write unit testing. If they don't do it doesn't mean they're going to burn in hades.
