# Disabling Connection Pooling

By Roy Osherove June 22, 2003 In [.Net Original](https://osherove.com/blog/category/net-original), [Tips & Tricks](https://osherove.com/blog/category/tips-tricks)

**Historical article** · Originally published June 22, 2003; technical details may be outdated.

ADO.NET Data Providers automatically use connection pooling turned on. If you want to turn this functionality off:

In an _SQLConnection_ object, Add this to the connection string:

**Pooling=False;**

In An _OLEDBConnection_ object, add this:

**OLE DB Services=-4;**

This way, the _OLE DB_ data provider will mark your connection so that it does not participate in connection pooling.
