# Nothing like the smell of new books!

By Roy Osherove September 25, 2003 In [Off Topic](https://osherove.com/blog/category/off-topic)

**Historical article** · Originally published September 25, 2003; technical details may be outdated.

Just ordered 3 books from [Amazon](https://osherove.com/blog/2003/9/25/www.amazon.com):

- [How Would You Move Mount Fuji? Microsoft's Cult of the Puzzle - How the World's Smartest Company Selects the Most Creative Thinkers](https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0316919160/iserializable-20)
- [COM+ and the Battle for the Middle Tier](https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0471317179/iserializable-20)
- [Test Driven Development: By Example](https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0321146530/iserializable-20)

Thanks to my [Amazon](https://osherove.com/blog/2003/9/25/www.amazon.com) referring program, you just helped me reduce this cost to half of the original cost of the purchase. Thanks everyone :) I promise to share what I learn from these books.

Also, I'm currently using Safari Books On line to read 3 more books:

- [COM and .NET Component Services](https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0596001037/iserializable-20)
- [Essential .NET, Volume 1: The Common Language Runtime](https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201734117/iserializable-20)
- [Refactoring: Improving the Design of Existing Code](https://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0201485672/iserializable-20)

Safari is great. It's much easier and cheaper this way. The only problem I have with this service is that they don't have all the books I'd want, so I'm forced to buy some of them off of [Amazon](https://osherove.com/blog/2003/9/25/www.amazon.com).
