# Good stuff on DataReader-\>Dataset

By Roy Osherove January 23, 2004 In [.Net Quotations](https://osherove.com/blog/category/net-quotations)

**Historical article** · Originally published January 23, 2004; technical details may be outdated.

Just in time to take me to task on my "[reactions](http://weblogs.asp.net/rosherove/archive/2004/01/23/61879.aspx)" post, the [DataReader to Dataset](http://weblogs.asp.net/rosherove/archive/2004/01/22/61541.aspx) post has generated some very good comments on alternative (and better) ways to do just that. And, if [Steve keeps his promise](http://weblogs.asp.net/rosherove/archive/2004/01/22/61541.aspx#61950)  we'll also get some code that converts a dataset to a Datareader. How cool is that?
