# The blogsphere generosity wave - Viral Marketing

By Roy Osherove April 29, 2004 In [Blogging](https://osherove.com/blog/category/blogging)

**Historical article** · Originally published April 29, 2004; technical details may be outdated.

Mike Schnikel is handing out free XDN subscriptions to .Net bloggers. He also donated some for [my Add-in contest](http://weblogs.asp.net/rosherove/archive/2004/04/21/117663.aspx) so that makes him a pretty cool guy, and a pretty good marketer too. The cool thing for me is that his latest generosity binge seems to have been inspired by [one of my posts about viral marketing](http://weblogs.asp.net/rosherove/archive/2004/04/23/118547.aspx). Feel free to thank me with beer ;)
