# Windows Media Player problem? here's a very good FAQ page

By Roy Osherove April 5, 2004 In [Off Topic](https://osherove.com/blog/category/off-topic)

**Bleh**. I'm trying to watch an all important streaming video of some really important things (no, not that), and windows media player 9 only plays audio and no video. Coolness. Always wanted to know what its like to be blind, but after 5 seconds it gets **really** old. So now what? Google Google.

While I still have not found the answer I was looking for(maybe you know?), I came across this wonderful media player FAQ page:

[Windows Media Player: WMP mini FAQ](http://www.nwlink.com/~zachd/pss/pss.html)

**\[Update:**

_OK. I somehow fixed it. The solution was:_

_\- open Tools-Options-Performance-Advanced_

_\- uncheck “use video mixing renderer”_

_That's it. Go figure. It used to work, but now it does not. Never actually “checked” it myself._

_Some windows problems are best left unanswered I guess...\]_
