# Mock vs. MockObject + Typemock Blog: Tips, Tricks and important things to know

By Roy Osherove February 4, 2008 In [Agile](https://osherove.com/blog/category/agile)

**Historical article** · Originally published February 4, 2008; technical details may be outdated.

There is now an official Typemock blog over at [http://typemock.blogspot.com](http://typemock.blogspot.com/) (and the [direct RSS feed](http://feeds.feedburner.com/Typemock)) that will host posts from the developers of Typemock(myself included) about any of these topics:

- Be a direct open channel to developers (other than [the forums](http://typemock.com/))
- upcoming and current product news
- explanations of various "hidden" features
- Explaining various concepts that Typemock uses
- Talking about various unit testing concepts

[The first post if by Lior Friedman](http://typemock.blogspot.com/2008/02/creation-of-mocks-on-difference-between_04.html), explaining the difference between two API methods that sound a lot alike:

1. _MockManager.Mock_
2. _MockManager.MockObject_

The main difference in a nutshell? _MockManager.Mock_ is for mocking _Future_ object instances (that will be created later and maybe out of our control), while _MockManager.Mock_Object will create an _instance_ then and there (just like you'd do it with typemock). [Read Lior's full post for a better explanation](http://typemock.blogspot.com/2008/02/creation-of-mocks-on-difference-between_04.html).

Yes. I realize that the naming sucks. Not for long. If you have good suggestions for renaming these methods, do me a favor and leave a comment on the new blog. We'd love to hear it.
