The guys over at DonationCoder.com are doing a great job of keeping the spirit of "I'm a geek who loves to hoard and try every kind of software that ever existed, hopefully free" alive.
As one of those "I'm a geek who loves to hoard and try every kind of software that ever existed, hopefully free" People (IAGWLTHATEKOSTEEHF-ish for short?), I find that not only the free software that is freely downloadable from their site pretty cool in its own right, but also the discussion boards are lively and a good place to lurk and discover cool free and not free stuff.
They recently released the list of "The 46 Best-ever Freeware Utilities". It's pretty interesting, if not only for the fact that almost half of it is dominated by security, malware and spam protection tools. They sure know their crowd!
I suggest you register for the forum RSS feed. It's always alive and it's nice to peek every once in a while discover something you didn't know about. Like FreeCommander, or Gobby and MoonEdit.
